General Consulting for Businesses
Our aim is to help businesses ensure that they are set up properly to make their products accessible to the blind community. We've received feedback that during our efforts focused on the blind community, we often illuminate pain points in the business model or place of business that are troublesome for sighted-persons as well; though blindness makes the issue exponentially more challenging to circumvent. These insights have led to improvements impacting much larger populations than what the original scope was intended for.
Website Screen-Reader Testing
This company is founded and run by top-notch screen reader users. While we will always encourage that teams have their sighted developers and team members learn and utilize the screen reader for their own testing if they want to; it has become obvious that we can test a website and communicate the pain points to development teams much faster than if they are trying to do all of the accessibility testing in-house, on their own. Whether the team prefers to review in real-time with us and record a meeting as we demonstrate problems that need to be addressed, or deliverable documents and matrices are preferred, we will work together to find what works best for your team.
Accessibility Technology Remote Training
We've now trained dozens of clients across the U.S. on JAWS and VoiceOver, with a heavy emphasis on the skills that a blind person needs to succeed in the workplace. There are many trainers in major cities that are excellent, but finding trainers in remote areas can be difficult. During Covid one particular client, the COO of a 3,000 person organization needed JAWS training and it forced the creation of strategies to provide the training this client needed with nothing more than his work laptop and his cell phone. The client was able to maintain his role and continue to perform with no lapse in service, thanks to our remote training.
Been-There-Done-That Training
Been-There Done-That Coaching is intended for any person that wants personal guidance on their life mission from someone who has been there and done that. This service was the most requested when we started discussing the organization with people in the network. We can contract with individuals directly, or work alongside a client and their assigned rehabilitation coordinator. These sessions focus on taking a deep dive into where you are now, where you want to go, and strategies for handling the mountain of obstacles that you will inevitably encounter on your journey. Often times, our accessibility technology clients request to transition to coaching once they feel that their skills are adequate for the time being, but they still feel like they want that extra sounding board. Our aim is to help create top-notch performers, who also happen to be blind, because we believe that is the best way to advocate for our community as a whole. *Please note, we would love to work with non-blind folks as well.* Looking forward to hearing from you :)
